Free Car Parking – Wychavon Car Parks

Free parking in Wychavon’s car parks

Free parking is being reintroduced in Wychavon’s car parks during lockdown and into the new year.

From Thursday, 5 November until Sunday, 3 January 2020, there will be no charge for using any Wychavon District Council owned pay and display car park.

The move will support residents who need to pick up essential items during the lockdown period, and businesses forced to close by the restrictions once they are allowed to reopen in December.

Parking restrictions, including waiting times in on-street parking bays and double yellow lines, still apply and will be enforced.

NHS and social care staff and official community volunteers can park for any length of time in on-street parking bays as long as they are on official duties and are showing a valid ID. Valid ID includes a photocopy of an identify badge, with sensitive information removed, or a letter on an official letterhead.

Cllr Bradley Thomas, Leader of Wychavon District Council, said: “Nobody wanted another lockdown, but it’s necessary to get infection rates down, protect our NHS and save lives.

“Providing free parking is just one way we are supporting residents and businesses through this challenging period. We will be providing further business support grants once we have received the money and detailed guidance from the Government, and we are once again working with our voluntary and community sector to support the vulnerable.

“We will get through this, we will build back stronger, but right now we need everyone to play their part and to follow the new national restrictions.”
